What Next?
So far, we have developed full scenarios for the Rhetorical Appeals, though we plan on continuing to add scenarios for a fuller exploration of those terms. In addition, we are working on drafts of scenarios for the Genres of Rhetoric. We plan on developing those six areas in depth, as well as adding scenarios for additional terms. Here are just a few of the terms we’d like to add as we expand the game:

Audience
Doxa
Enthymeme
Episteme
Kairos
Probable
Techne
Metaphor
Metonym

Though the game will continue to focus on Greece in the classical period, the time travel format allows us to apply rhetoric in a variety of times and places. Already, in the Rhetorical Appeal scenarios, the player interacts with Enheduanna in 23rd Century BCE UR, and Sor Juana in 17th Century New Spain. In the forensic scenario players will encounter Frederick Douglas, and in the deliberative scenario they will travel to France during “The Terror.”

basic platform, RGV Maker. As we experiment with different game platforms and obtain financing, we’ll continue to expand the game story.
We are looking for interinstitutional partners. If you’d like to participate, send us a note in comments on the homepage or e-mail, joe.noe@utrgv.edu. We’re interested in rhetoricians, digital artists, those with game design experience, those with no experience at all, but with enthusiasm. We look forward to hearing from you.
